The Big Bang Theory is an American sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, both of whom serve as executive producers on the show. It premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007.

The Big Bang Theory

Set in Pasadena, California, the show is about two fictional Caltech geniuses, one an experimental physicist (Leonard Hofstadter) and the other a theoretical physicist (Sheldon Cooper), who live across the hall from an attractive blonde waitress and aspiring actress (Penny). Leonard and Sheldon’s geekiness and intellect are contrasted for comic effect with Penny’s social skills and common sense. An aerospace engineer (Howard Wolowitz) and a particle astrophysicist (Rajesh Koothrappali) are their equally geeky and socially awkward co-workers and friends.

The show is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions. In March 2009, it was reported that The Big Bang Theory had been renewed for a third and fourth season by CBS. In August 2009, the sitcom won the best comedy series TCA award and Jim Parsons won the award for individual achievement in comedy.

When the third season premiered on September 21, 2009, it ranked as CBS’s highest-rated show of that evening in the adults 18–49 demographic (4.6/10), along with a then series-high 12.83 million viewers.

As of September 2009[update], The Big Bang Theory airs on CBS on Mondays at 9:30 ET after Two and a Half Men,[9] another show produced by Lorre. On May 19, 2010, it was announced that CBS would be moving the show to Thursdays at 8:00 ET for the 2010–2011 schedule.

Jimena Navarrete Miss Universe

Jimena Navarrete, Miss Mexico, was crowned Miss Universe last night and the former model has quickly embraced her role as an ambassador for her native country.

“I want to whole world to know about my country and my people,” she said, after beating out 82 other competitors from around the world.

With her win, Navarette takes over the reign of last year’s competition winner, Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela.

During the interview portion of the pageant, Olympic gold medal figure skater Evan Lysacek asked Navarette how she felt about unsupervised internet use.

“I do believe that Internet is an indispensable, necessary tool for the present time,” she said, with the help of an interpreter. “We must be sure to teach them the values that we learned as a family.”

It was likely this answer that helped Navarette secure the Miss Universe crown over the heavily favored Miss Philippines, who did not fare as well during the question and answer period, ultimately placing fifth overall.

Evan Lysacek joined Jane Seymour, Chynna Phillips, Chazz Palminteri, William Baldwin, Criss Angel, Tamron Hall, Sheila E and Niki Taylor as the pageant’s celebrity judges.

Miss Jamaica, Yendi Phillipps was first runner up, while second runner up was Jesinta Campbell from Australia.

Tiger Woods Divorce

The Tiger Woods/Elin Nordegren divorce was finalized on Monday in Panama City, FL. The now former couple appeared in the Bay County Circuit Court to make the split official.

Now that the marriage is over, the pair plans to focus on their children. Tiger and Elin have asked for privacy to help their children adjust. In a statement from Nordergren’s attorneys, the pair told the press:

“Once we came to the decision that our marriage was at an end, the primary focus of our…discussions has been to ensure [the children’s] future well-being. The weeks and months ahead will not be easy for them as we adjust to a new family situation, which is why our privacy must be a principal concern.”

It is unfortunate that Tiger did not make the children’s potential adjustment a concern when he created the situation that led to the couple’s divorce. He could have spared himself and his family a good deal of embarrassment and anguish had he kept his clubs in the bag, so to speak.

Still, his shortcomings are not the children’s fault. Hopefully they will fare well in spite of all the publicity.

Google Tablet

There’s a special secret sauce source in town today, delivering special secret rumours about that special secret Google Chrome OS tablet that the anti-Apple masses have been clawing for since April.

What rumours, you ask? How about that a Chrome OS device will launch through Verizon on this year’s Black Friday: November 26th. An interesting move, as it’s the busiest shopping day of the year, and a good day for impulse purchases.

Now, while the uncomfirmed source over at Download Squad says that it will be a Chrome OS tablet, there have been previous rumours about an Android tablet launching on Verizon, so we’ll have to wait and see — especially as Android 3.0 will be tablet-friendly, and would launch with a heap of apps ready to compete with the iPad.

But, we do know that Chrome OS will run on tablet devices, so this could go either way.

And what’s a rumour without some tech specs thrown in? If true, you can expect this tablet to be based off NVidia’s Tegra 2 platform with a 1280×720 multitouch display, 2GB of RAM, minimum 32GB SSD, WiFi/Bluetooth/3G connectivity, GPS, webcam, and possibly expandable storage via a multi-card reader.

And, as this is launching directly with a carrier, expect a subsidised, on-contract price lower than the iPad’s.

STANDUP funnyman Gilbert Gottfried is coming to Rumor’s Comedy Club for two evenings of his trademark caustic humour Friday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 2.

A frequent comedy contributor to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Gottfried may be best known to kids as the voice of Iago, the parrot in the animated classic Aladdin. He may be known to parents for his off-colour but hilarious adult material, such as his contribution to the documentary The Aristocrats, which featured footage of Gottfried’s telling of the ultimate dirty joke at a notorious Friar’s Roast for Hugh Hefner in 2001.

Gottfried performs two shows each night at 7:45 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be booked by calling Rumor’s at 488-4520.

In an argument as acrimonious as any Ryder Cup match, Golf Channel reporter Jim Gray pointed his finger at Corey Pavin’s chest and accused the U.S. captain of lying about comments that Tiger Woods will be picked for the team. Golf Channel reporter and Decision conduit Jim Gray had a heated altercation over whether U.S. Captain Corey Pavin had confirmed to Gray that Tiger Woods would be selected for the Ryder Cup team. Pavin believed he was misquoted. Golf Channel is “100 percent behind the accuracy of Jim Gray’s report.” Gray reported Tuesday that Pavin said he would pick Tiger Woods for the team if he doesn’t make the cut.

DiMeglio tweeted that the two were face to face and Gray “stuck his finger in Pavin’s face.” But no one could have expected the heated altercation between Pavin and Golf Channel reporter Jim Gray that came afterward. Woods currently ranks tenth in the standings; the top eight receive automatic berths, which leaves the team captain to hand pick the four remaining players. European team captain Colin Montgomerie and Pavin held a joint press conference a few hours later.

Speaking with the BBC last month, Pavin said he wanted Woods on the team and expected him to make the team on points. And in other interviews, he’s made it clear Woods wouldn’t receive special treatment. After the press conference concluded, Pavin was standing next to the stage and speaking to some members of the media. The Golf Channel issued a statement shortly afterward, “Golf Channel stands 100 percent behind the accuracy of Jim Gray’s report. Gray looked calm and genuinely more befuddled than infuriated with Pavin’s allegations.

She went to ‘Phantom of the Opera’ with her family and wanted to start singing opera at age 8. The first 11 contestants were chosen by the judges, but this singer was voted in by the fans. And out of all of the talented people, I have to say she delivered the best!

Effective June 2, Sean O’Keefe, 52, will head GE Aviation’s Washington D.C. operations, replacing Dr. Thomas Cooper, who is retiring after serving in the role with distinction for 21 years.

Over the past 30 years, O’Keefe has held key U.S. Government positions in Washington, including NASA Administrator (2001-2005), Deputy Director and Deputy Assistant to the President at the Office of Management and Budget (2001), and Secretary of the Navy (1992-93).

“Sean brings a wealth of experience involving complex public policy issues as well as advanced technology,” said Scott Donnelly, President and CEO of GE Aviation, based in Cincinnati, Ohio. “He takes over the helm of our Washington office at a very dynamic period in the aviation industry.”

Since 2005, O’Keefe has served as Chancellor of Louisiana State University. He has also held faculty posts at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs (1996-2001), and at Pennsylvania State University (1993-96).

O’Keefe earned a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University, New Orleans, and a master’s degree in public administration from Syracuse University.

His predecessor, Dr. Tom Cooper, has been a most trusted advisor to GE leadership and to Washington D.C. policy leaders and lawmakers for two decades. “Tom has played a major role in GE’s leadership position in both commercial and military aviation,” Donnelly said.

Actress and new mother Rebecca Gayheart showed of her svelte post baby physique whilst out shopping in Los Angeles yesterday.

Accompanied by a friend, the star shopped for baby accessories at The Right Start in Sherman Oaks, California.

Dressed in a summery floral dress, Gayheart showed off her toned legs as she browsed the store.

Since giving birth 4 months ago the star has snapped back into shape by taking regular Pilates classes and playing tennis with her husband.

While she appears happier than ever, the star has occasionally been at the centre of controversy.

In 2001, Gayheart was charged with vehicular manslaughter for hitting and killing a 9-year old boy with her car.

She was sentenced to 3-years probation, had her drivers license suspended for a year, forced to pay a $2800 fine and carry out 750 hours of community service.

She was previously engaged to director Brett Ratner and married Dane in 2004.

In 2009, when she was 2 months pregnant, a home video was posted on a celebrity website that showed former Miss Teen USA contestant Kari Ann Peniche with Rebecca and her husband in several intimate situations.

The couple managed to get the video legally removed from the site after several days.
